Walk *** - sunrise prom – sunny periods.
As there was a top forecast today for a windsurf foil, 11 degrees with a 20 knot breeze from the south and to make the most of the 11.30 high I wanted to get to Levington Marina early I was hoping there might be a nice sunrise here in Felixstowe first. I looked out of the window at 7.10 and it looked promising so I quickly dressed and walked down to the pier. There was a bank of mackerel clouds and they slowly turned red making it a lovely sunrise to welcome in winter as it’s the 1st of December, I got a nice selection of pics before returning home to send some off to the TV weather!
Windsurf * Levington - sunny with light rain
It took me an hour to sort my pics out and have a quick breakfast so was a little late setting off, sadly the sun had disappeared, I arrived at the marina around 9.30 and it was sadly packed mainly with wingers from Alton Water I think? I quickly set up my foil board and carried it to the launch beach but the wind looked very marginal and no one was in a hurry to launch, I put my wetsuit on hoping the wind would build by which time a few lightweight wingers were out pumping up onto the foil so decided to take a chance with my 6.5 hoping the wind would come through, sadly it didn’t and I spent the best part of 2 hours floundering about waiting for a gust which never came, I only got flying briefly a couple of times. I should have rigged my 8.5 but am not keen on big sails but I need to get out of that as its no fun not flying! Most of the wingers had gone by the time I wobbled ashore to pack-up, shower and head for home as the light rain came back! So not a great start to the month, perhaps it will be better later in the week, fingers crossed!
